MSIA Site Visit in Penang: Silicon Island & Mutiara LRT Briefing

As part of our ongoing industry engagement efforts, MSIA recently collaborated with Silicon Island Development (SID) and the SRS Consortium Sdn. Bhd., to organise a site visit in Penang, joined by MSIA members, for an insightful briefing on the progress of Silicon Island and the Mutiara LRT project.

Silicon Island at a Glance
- Spanning approximately 2,300 acres, with about 300 acres already reclaimed
- Target to complete 500 acres of reclamation in the next phase
- The LRT station and Green Tech Park will be among the first developments
- The future LRT station will sit directly under the flight path of planes landing at Penang International Airport (PIA)

The Mutiara LRT, expected to be commissioned by 2031, will enhance connectivity across Penang’s industrial zones, talent hubs, and key economic corridors, further strengthening the state’s position as a leading semiconductor and technology hub.
