Strengthening Industry–Agency Collaboration for Talent Development with HRD Corp

Recently, MSIA paid a courtesy visit to HRD Corp to meet with its CEO, Dato’ Mohamed Shamir Abdul Aziz, to discuss critical workforce development priorities for the semiconductor industry.

During the meeting, MSIA President, Dato’ Seri SH Wong, highlighted the industry’s ongoing challenges in addressing evolving training needs, particularly as Malaysia strengthens its position across the global semiconductor value chain.

Among the key proposals discussed was the establishment of a certification-based training and design development framework aimed at enhancing workforce capabilities, standardising competencies, and future-proofing industry talent.

Dato’ Shamir welcomed the proposal and expressed HRD Corp’s openness to support initiatives that align closely with industry requirements.

MSIA looks forward to continued collaboration with HRD Corp to ensure Malaysia’s semiconductor workforce remains globally competitive, resilient, and innovation-driven.
